As we all have seen, the real estate market has been anything but normal the last year or more. If you are looking to buy a home this year you might be looking for something to make you stand out amongst other buyers or potential buyers. Buying a house is always somewhat competitive but it is especially so in this crazy market.


The earlier in the year that you act this year the better it will be for you and the more affordable your purchase will be. Experts in the real estate world are predicting that mortgage rates, that have been at record lows for a while now, will start to rise later in this year. According to Freddie Mac the average  30 year fixed mortgage is going to rise to 3.5% by the end of the year. I have heard some experts say also that they feel home prices will rise more also.

So basically if you wait until later this year to start looking for your dream home not only will you face the headache of higher prices you will also be paying more each month due to the mortgage rates rising. In my opinion I would recommend starting your search now and this way you can act fast and get into the home of your dreams. Then you can enjoy all the benefits of owning your own home and rest easy knowing the value will rise in your investment.


In this market the buyer demand is so high and there just haven’t really been enough properties on the market for buyers to choose from. One thing that always helps a potential buyer appeal to a seller is to be flexible, present them a deal that meets their needs specifically. If you are buying a home and the sellers are still looking for their next home it may behoove you to offer an extended closing date or to lock the contract in but allow them still time to find their next home. That type of deal can work for both parties because the buyer is ahead of the pricing rise but the seller still has time to find a new home without feeling stranded.
